About This Quote

If history were taught in the form of stories, it would never be forgotten.  The story of Winston Churchill, the greatest British statesman of the 20th Century. Born in 1874, he grew up during England’s Golden Age. He was educated at Harrow School and Sandhurst Military Academy.

 Following his service in the Boer War, he worked as an editor for an armaments firm.  In 1899, he became Member of Parliament for Oldham.  He was elected to the House of Commons two years later and promoted to the cabinet in 1911.

 He served twice as First Lord of the Admiralty during World War I before becoming Prime Minister in 1940.  He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1953 for his work with India and his role in establishing Britain’s nuclear deterrent. He died in 1965 at age 90.
